I always love Samsung’s fliptop/clamshell phones. I love their design especially when they have various colors for a certain unit. Recently, Samsung had just released another clamshell phone but this time it has a dual display: the Samsung SCH-W570. The inner and out display are 2.2 inches. The outer display happens to be a touchscreen. The advantage of having a dual display is that when you are commuting and feel the need to open your phone’s inbox, you don’t have to exert an effort to open your clamshell phone. The outer display can actually be used to access your primary functions, e.g. reading text messages, handling the music player, and even watching mobile television. Features include: 3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, digital TV and 3G connectivity. The unit’s price is around $600 to $700, which is quite pricey for me. Well let’s just wait and see if it’s worth the price.

If I’m going to buy a smartphone, I would consider the HP Oak. I like its features and the way it looks and I like the color black. It is not yet out in the market but the gadget enthusiasts are already eyeing on this mobile phone. It will be powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and will be loaded with quad-band GSM, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, full QWERTY keyboard, touchscreen LCD, Bluetooth, WiFi, and GPS. The HP Oak has an alphanumeric keypad and at the same time, it has a QWERTY slide-out. I don’t know if the keypad is working whether it is a physical keypad or a virtual on-screen one. I can’t really wait for the release of this mobile phone. I’m sure many people will its design and features. Who knows, Dell and Acer might be working with their own mobile phones someday. I wonder if HP is going to release mobile phones like the Nokia or Sony Ericson.

A total of 73 corporate and government establishments in 10 industries in the United States, Canada and Europe took part in the survey organized to distinguish the prevailing state of privacy and security considerations in work-from-home arrangements. As more employees do work remotely from home, personal and private information associated both employees and employers may be compromised if privacy and security risks are not administered with effectively. Study findings also indicate that employers do not fully recognize and handle the privacy and security matters, resulting organizations defenseless to certain financial and reputational hazards. Many firms allow telecommuters to manage personal information at home, only half of the survey respondents said they deal this subject with conventional policies and training. Telecommuters use their own personal computers and PDAs for work purposes; the hard drive and email encryption tools found ordinarily on employer devices are little help.

Canadian’s computer security investigators have exposed a massive surveillance system in China that supervises Skype messages bearing offensive words to the Communist government.
Specifically, the technology is keeping trail of messages TOM-Skype clients are directing. TOM-Skype is a joint venture between eBay (Skype’s owner) and a Chinese wireless company.
Citizen Lab, a research group at the University of Toronto, issued an investigative account that the text of chat messages of TOM-Skype users, along with Skype users who have communicated with TOM-Skype users, is glanced over for highly sensitive keywords. Keywords such as “Taiwan independence,” “the Falun Gong,” and “political opposition to the Communist Party of China” are revealed in conversations, uploaded and laid in on servers in China.
The researchers could not resolve who is operating the surveillance system, but suspect it could be the Chinese wireless company in conjugation with Chinese police.
